A sterling silver decanter in the form of a bottle. This decanter is very much in the form of a classic wine or spirit bottle. It has wonderful proportions, and clean lines that will lend itself to fit well into even the most modern of settings. The bottle itself has a beautifully formed squaring off to the sides. It is not simply circular in shape. The bottom has a hand engraved star pattern cut into it. The collar of the decanter is sterling silver with a simple banding through the bottom half, and a stepped neck to catch any drips from easily running down the bottle. The stopper is in keeping with the simple design of the bottle. The top of it is covered in sterling also, and has English assay control marks and the matching date letter to the collar, confirming its originality. The piece was made in Birmingham, England, by esteemed silversmith William Hutton & Sons. in 1908. This makes the decanter quite modernist in its design. Much homeware coming out of the Edwardian period in England was still heavily influenced by the ornate and somewhat 'fussy' decorative look of the Victorian era. The condition is perfect throughout.
