1 Carat Platinum Engagement Ring Circa 1920

The Juniper Ring is a 1 carat platinum engagement ring from the Art Deco Era, circa 1920! This beauty centers a 1.01 carat old European cut diamond of approximately O-P color, SI1 clarity. The diamond is set in a 4-prong platinum setting with hand-engraved details and a diamond decorating each shoulder and each side of the gallery. Scrolling open metalwork lines the gallery. The ring is size 5.75 and can be resized!

Why We Love It

A beautiful and classic vintage solitaire! There’s so much detail in this ring! The diamond is incredibly bright and lively. The detailing along the shoulder continues this effect by playing off the angles of the facets and helping to enhance the shine of the platinum. Rather than giving the band a textured appearance, the detailing here is light and graceful, almost featherlike! Underneath, the scrolling metalwork offers a lovely contrast with swirls and arches, culminating in a unique setting for the diamond!

1920s Platinum Obsession

When you look at the Juniper ring, you can tell it’s a vintage piece by its craftsmanship and high class style. But pinning down just which vintage jewelry era it comes from can be a bit trickier! It’s easy to place it in the 1920s, both for its classic solitaire style and its intricate, architectural detailing. While some of its details are outright Art Deco—especially the diamond millegrain outline along the upper shoulders—other details might pass for a late Edwardian style, circa 1915. Between these two trendsetting vintage eras, you have a stunning platinum design.

At the turn of the century, platinum was the precious metal. In the Edwardian Era, it rose to popularity after tastes had outgrown gold and silver. While it offered superior strength, it also served as one of the best metals for millegraining and other hand-engraving techniques. As the Art Deco style developed, platinum sparked new interest with its sleek, metropolitan appeal. For both the Edwardian and Art Deco eras, platinum meant opulence.

The Juniper ring wears its platinum obsession proudly on its sleeve. And with this much style, who wouldn’t be proud to be platinum?
